Crane

Overview

A crane, or jib, is an extended arm that is used to achieve controlled, sweeping motions of the camera. The crane can create a variety of movements, from low to high, side to side, or anything in between. You can even simulate aerial shots by shooting directly over your subject with a wide lens. Typically the distinction between a jib and a crane is that a crane is large enough to accommodate the operator.
