    Understanding the technical side of the editing process is not only essential but expected when applying for an assistant editing job. Knowing what's expected of you (how to ingest, group, consolidate, move, and output) will help ease the transition to the assistant position.

    This class focuses on the tasks that an assistant editor is typically assigned to do. Primarily focusing on television tape and tapeless formats, students will be guided through setting up a bay, getting footage in the Avid, organizing media as an assistant as well as an editor, managing media and drives, getting material out to various broadcast formats, and finally common troubleshooting tasks.
    • Setting up the editing bay.
    • Importing footage into the Avid.
    • Ingesting, grouping, consolidating, moving, and outputting media.
    • Organizing media as an assistant as well as an editor.

    Who Should Attend

    Aspiring Assistant Editors, Assistant Editors, Editors, Post Production Supervisors, Producers, and anyone else interested in gaining a keen knowledge of assistant editing essentials.


    It is highly recommended that students take the MC101 & MC110 classes - or have equivalent experience - before taking this class. MC201 & MC205 are also recommended.

    Cancellation/Refund Policy

    Moviola Education Center reserves the right to cancel any course at anytime for any reason, however, cancellations are usually made no less than 72 hours prior to the course start date. In the event of a cancellation by Moviola Education Center, students have the option of being rescheduled for another course date or receiving a full refund.

    Students may cancel their enrollment in any course by providing notice to Moviola Education Center. The student has the right to cancel the enrollment agreement and obtain a refund of charges paid through attendance at the first class session, or the seventh day after enrollment, whichever is later.

    Refunds for PayPal or credit card will be subject to a 2% fee.
