Where is Painite Found? Myanmar remains the sole source of Painite. In addition to Ongaing, the type locality, Kyauk-Pyat-Thet in Mogok and Namyazeik in Kachin State have produced gem-quality material.
Painite's extreme rarity is due to it containing the chemical elements zirconium and boron, WHICH DO NOT NORMALLY associate with each other in nature and don't occur together in ANY other mineral! Ironically, some painite crystals are partly altered to a crust of small pink crystals of the more common ruby.
COULD BE CUT INTO A BEAUTIFUL OVAL, RECTANGULAR CUSHION CUT, COULD EVEN BE CUT INTO A BRILLIANT ROUND BUT YOU MAY LOSE QUITE A BIT OF PRECIOUS MATERIAL. WHAT I WOULD DO IS CUT THE STONE COMPLETELY IN HALF AND FIND A SHAPE THAT FITS YOU, AND MAKE THIS ONE STONE INTO A PAIR OF EARRINGS. OR SINCE IT IS SUCH A RARE STONE, LEAVING IT INTACT AND PUTTING IT IN A DISPLAY CASE MIGHT BE THE RIGHT DECISION!
THE CHOICE IS UP TO YOU!
THANK YOU!
