Griswold THE AMERICAN cast iron waffle maker #8 (8&9), with an interesting button hinge There are no cracks, chips, etc. This is a very very good example of an early cast iron waffle iron. Very Very clean overall, but used / loved / very old , scratches, dis colorization, staining, etc. here or there. Has not been used since the restoration process. Cleaned/seasoned X3 with grape seed oil, it’s ready to use.
All go through lye bath to remove organic material, seasoning, etc. Then I run them through the electrolysis process to remove any corrosion, rust, impurities, etc. They are scrubbed by hand using dish liquid, soft, stainless steel brushes, and nylon brushes with cold water to bring the original luster and back to the bare metal finish. Finally, all pieces are run through three rounds of seasoning using grape seed oil. Cast iron cookware will last hundreds of years and generations if properly taken care of.
