**Comment:** This is a reprint of the famous Nothing Personal (1964), the second photo book by Richard Avedon, a master photographer of the 20th century, following Observation. It is a masterpiece that explores the complexities, contradictions, and hierarchies of America, accompanied by texts by James Baldwin, a writer and civil rights activist who was a high school friend of Avedon. Designed by legendary art director Marvin Israel, it juxtaposes famous figures like Allen Ginsberg and Malcolm X with American Nazi Party members and patients in institutions for the intellectually disabled, capturing the America of the time. Avedon himself called it one of my best works. It includes photographs and four essays by Baldwin, in which he discusses his experiences with racial discrimination and harassment by police. It comes with a commentary booklet.
