A beautiful seascape by Mary Lou ?Hovelman on May 26, 1955. I bought this painting in Ashland, Oregon and it is part of my “waves and the sea” collection. It is 12 x18 inches, newly matted in a warm white acid—free mat with an orange backing. Total size is 18 x 24inches—ready for framing! The artist signed this painting in the lower left corner; on the back of the painting, she initialed (MLH) and dated (Thursday, May 26), noting the time to be early afternoon sun at 1:30pm, so I believe this is the Pacific on the West coast. 127 C cannot be the temperature, so not sure what this refers to? The browns in the rock are perfect, as is the water and the use of black to highlight the motion of the water. That sky is perfection as well-the paper is textured and this adds to its beauty. Excellent condition!!
