A silken flower gently blows in the breeze, petals of light blue gently cupping it as it does so. Giant water droplets begin to fall. At least that's what it reminds me of. The purple flower itself is almost ephemeral and perhaps if you were to try and pick it, it would dissolve. But not this time, this time you can pick it up as it is glass enveloped in glass. This would would be a perfect complement to your glass collection, be they paperweights or a menagerie of items. When Mt. Saint Helens erupted in 1980, it rained down death & destruction. One person was inspired, Hank Claycamp, and he sought the beauty lain within the charred remains. He created a formula in which 64% silica ash could be worked into his glass art. This visually stunning paperweight is made from those very ashes which were in this case personally collected by Roger Vines. Signed MSH Ash Vines 93, it's approx. 3 1/2 tall. There are a couple of 1 mm long faint scratches that don't detract from its beauty.
