MYSTERIOUS 1940's BLACK FELT HAT + RED/BLACK VELOUR BAND & FEATHERS

This is a "mysterious" hat because inside the hatband there is a piece of paper hidden. From the photos one can see there are letters printed, but it serves no purpose for the hat. We have left it intact because it one tries to remove it, it most likely will fall apart.This beautiful black felt hat has a medium height crown which is indented at the top. The brim is medium sized, and it extends towards the back, to help keep it in place. There are beautiful red and black velour bands draped around the crown. At the front of the crown there are 2 black and one red feather sprays to complete the look.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
