This is a stunning lavender brimless straw hat in the form of a cylinder. It is made of very high quality straw and the look appears to be "draped" at one side of the front. There is a beautiful large lavender fabric flower, leaves and stems completing the fabulous look. Post war 1940’s and 1950’s saw many women choosing not to wear hats on a regular basis. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Generally speaking hats remained small and close to the head. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble. Label: Unfortunately the previous owner seems to have tried to remove the designer or store label, and only a corner remains. There is another manufacturer's label present, which is not entirely legible, but probably means it was Union Made.This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
