This is a beautiful example of the fabulous fashions of the 1940s'! The brown felt fedora consists of a low crown surrounded by a medium brim, which is upturned at one side. The brim is uniquely edged by small strips, as seen in the photos. There are two taffeta bows...one at one side, below the brim, and the other in top of the brim. There are also two felt strips projecting upwards. What a unique hat!The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Imprinted inside the hat: GLENOVER - Henry Pollak, Fifth Avenue, New YorkThere is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
