Vtg Brazilian Banded Agate Pen Holder 1977 Gift From Fred Nahan Galleries New Orleans LA This beautiful Brazilian Banded Agate was an actual holiday gift from Fred Nahan to my father,Dr. Charles,December 1977.Hand signed note to my father and description of the agate is included.Wonderful provenance.So handsome,perfect for the pen enthusiast or the lover of fine Brazilian Banded Agate.The 4" gold tone pen holder bends back and forward.Great vintage condition. As per the description from the gallery:Brazilian Banded AgateThis polished slab of agate ( cryptocrystalline quartz) has been cut from a nodule which was minded in southern Brazil.Concentric waving and irregular banding patterns owe their form to intermittent deposition by slice rich solutions in hardened lava air pockets.These deposits of silica reflect the irregular shape of the cavity in which they are formed.Metallic impurities from the oxides of iron,magnesium, nickel and tin are responsible for the brightly contrasting colors.Nahan Galleries 140 Royal StreetNew Orleans, LA There are 3 small felt circles on the base.The gold foil NAHAN GALLERIES NEW ORLEANS is on the base as well as a small white and red label 155 cm.This piece is one that my father cherished as he was an avid fountain pen collector.Please see the photos to complete the description.Thanks so much for checking out our shop.
