A completely intact fully terminated Smokey Herkimer Diamond Floater from the Turtle Clan Mine in Fonda, NY. This beauty is one of the better ones Ive seen from this locality with the black anthraxolite cores. It looks like the crystals in this pocket were beginning to form scepter formations but never quite got there. Scepter formations are extremely rare for Herkimer Diamonds which form differently than other varieties of quartz. They are harder on the mohs scale. Herkimers are 500 million years old as opposed to quartz in Tibet for example, which is 250 to 275 million years old. This makes it some of the oldest quartz on earth. This is a nice crystal that was unearthed by me in the fall of 2024. So you will be the second pair of hands to ever hold this specimen.
