Vintage Mexican Silver Alexandrite (Corundum) pendant, marked Mexico 925 JPM Aztec design starburst pendant dating from the 1930's to 1940's, according to the mark style. It is about 3 1/4" across. We discovered an Early "2" eagle mark. This mark appears to have been added at a later date, and is not near the mark on the bale, it is actually on the piece itself.Pieces such as this have been attributed to Iguala Mexico Silversmiths, however, we do not know who the actual maker was. The stone is a large faceted "Mexican Alexandrite", otherwise known as a synthetic, color-changing Corundum (sapphire) that goes from lush purple to a bluish grey.It is beautiful. The workmanship and condition are wonderful. There is tarnish, but no damage. This is a HUGE pendant, completely handmade, and a really, really nice and rare piece. We have only seen one other example that was similar, and that was by William Spratling.
