First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Blessingway by Leland C. Wyman With Three Versions of the Myth Recorded & Translated from the Navajo by Father Berard Haile (University of Arizona Press, 1970). A full interpretation of the most sacred and essential of all Navajo rites and ceremonies, The Blessingway, is described here. With illustrations and photographs. This was the first English language text which contained the fully researched and clearly realized depiction of this sacred ritual. Jacket has some scuffing and scratches to faces and chipping, tears and small missing bits around the edges. Small liquid stain and some waviness near bottom of front cover. Boards are straight and clean but with bumped corners. Front hinge partially split spine is somewhat loose, but all pages remain attached and spine is fairly straight. No writing inside or out.
