Vintage Dobbs Medium Straw Fedora Good vintage condition consist with its age. Classic Dobbs hat from the Baskin Department StorePleated Silk band of red yellow and blue Size 7 Brim - 2 “Crown - 4”Box is not included unless you want to pay extra for shipping. Label under inside band reads “Cocoanut” with a price of $11.00 Maybe the style was a Cocoanut or made from coconut fibers. A smaller label shows the price of $7.95 on a Baskin label. I’m guessing this label is from the Baskin department store which was a fine department store that first opened in Illinois in 1929 by founder Al Baskin.The business survived through the Great Depression and was eventually named Mark Shale after Baskin’s sons Mark and Shale. By the 1990s, the company expanded to St. Louis, Atlanta and Dallas and was closed after filing bankruptcy in 2012. Whatever the true history of this hat is, the Dobbs is a brilliant lid and worthy of your head! This is a vintage item, previously owned, loved and may have minor imperfections not noted above.
