This custom made beautiful black fedora from the 1940s is made with a low crown extending at the back into a cap to hold the hat in a tilted position. The larger brim is trimmed with a black veil, tied at the back. On one side of the crown there is a creative blue and black feather 'bird'.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Jean Harlow Mannequin not for sale.
