The main strength of the collection is elite English 18th century furniture, much of which was commissioned for great houses now destroyed. Temple Newsam also harbors many excellent Tudor and Stuart pieces, including an important holding of regional oak furniture, whilst Lotherton Halll contains an impressive array of well documented Victorian masterpieces. - Originally part of a two volume set, this is only the first volume. This volume covers English Furniture including beds, bookcases, cabinets, chairs, chandeliers, clocks, commodes, cupboards, musical instruments and picture frames. - First edition published in 1978 by National Art-Collections Fund and the Leeds Art Collections Fund. - Extensive illustrations throughout. Predominately black and white with some color plates. - 246 pages - Good condition. Light wear to dust jacket. Pages inside are clean of marks but have some yellowing.
