This amazing set was from our trip to Kona, Hawaii in 1978. We stayed at the Kona Surf Hotel. We were there for almost three weeks. My parents and I feel in love with The Pottery Steak House that was in Kona. We frequented the restaurant almost every evening. My parents became great friend's with the owners Dawn and Gordon Bartsch. We have quite a collection of their phenomenal ceramic pottery.
We also have the history of their pottery, a copy of the original menu, and an original business card. Whom ever purchases any of our The Pottery Hawaii items will receive a copy of all three.
This is a gem of a set. They are not only beautiful to behold in the stunning yellow glaze, but demonstrate a technical mastery in ceramics. They are most unusual for the extremely thin cast. They average 85 grams each, less than 3 ounces.
