Rare natural gold nugget stickpin that weighs a whopping 7.6 grams, almost 1/3 of an ounce!This nugget looks like it was very carefully drilled with a TINY drill, and the stickpin part carefully soldered into a tiny hole in the nugget. Pieces like this are very hard to find, especially as stickpins were from the gold rush era, and to find an original piece in this day is quite unusual.This piece may be from the San Francisco or California goldrush, (1848-1855) or from the later Alaska gold rush. (1896-1897)It is definitely from the Victorian or Edwardian era of 1830 to 1920, most likely from the earlier part, as the later Edwardian period featured white metals and silvery fashion, not gold. Nugget is acid tested in multiple areas to be at least 22 karat gold. (See photo) My testing acids do not go up to 24K. The pin part tests as about 14k or better. Measures 17.12 x 13.11 mm.
