Antique Art Deco Sugar Cube Cocktail Tongs Pinchers Plunger Mechanical France French Oddities It’s the coolest and unique yet oddest item you have seen all day! It’s art that was so advanced, it’s amazing it still functions. There are two tiny chips on the cream button that you use to open the basket and I had a hard time representing in photo. I had to do a little research as I’m not an expert I assume it’s by Francois Frionnet but see this brand listed as Frionnet Francois probably due to the position of the stamp/HallmarkIt was used to place sugar cubes in tea and produced somewhere from 1925 to 1930. I can definitely see it used for cocktail garnishes- olives fruit ice Besides the brand stamp, it also has“2g” and I can’t read the inside writing. I’m assuming it’s silver plated. I inherited this tool from someone born in 1919 and believe it originally belonged to another relative. I have not used it but quickly polished it with a silver cloth- there is a small amount of tarnish. It’s the original worn box that has me impressed. The inside top has some stains and the velvet has kept it safe…the extra white paper is thicker and might be acid- free tissue paper. In my research, there are two similar out there with the top button being made of wood- I’m not sure of the material used on this one.
