First edition, first printing hardcover copy of The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley (Alfred A. Knopf, 1982). Very rare true first edition of this classic fantasy novel based on the Arthurian legend and folklore. Price clipped jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with mild rubbing/scuffing to faces and slight shelf wear around the edges. Board faintly bowed and with corners bumped. Foxing/discoloration to top outer edge of text block and small stained area to rear endpaper and last few pages, both apparently caused by a small amount of liquid exposure. Otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
