Typical Japan, the first photo book by Toshio Shibata, a photographer representing Japan, is a masterpiece. From the 1980s to the 1990s, he used a large-format camera to photograph large-scale civil engineering structures such as dams and roads scattered in the mountains of Hokkaido, Fukushima Prefecture, and Miyazaki Prefecture. This work dynamically captures the strange scenery where artificial structures have entered nature. Shibata's illustrations, which contain diverse messages, are full of the multifaceted charm of photography and are one of the symbols of modern Japan.

This book is Shibata Toshio's representative work, which was published in 1992 as his first photo book and won the 17th Kimura Ihei Award (quoted from the internet).
