Agatized Coral is made when silica replaces the original skeleton of a coral colony. The transformation occurs over time when the coral’s original make up is slowly dissolved by acid in the groundwater and replaced by dissolved silica. The various colors are due to deposition of trace minerals (like iron and manganese) during this process.
It is also UV reactive.
