This is a stunning L.C. Smith & Bros. No. 2 typewriter, manufactured in Syracuse, NY, USA, in the early 1900s. It is a fully functional piece of history, making it perfect for both collectors and those who appreciate vintage craftsmanship. The typewriter features its original black enamel finish with gold lettering and has been tested to ensure it still types.
Condition:
• The typewriter works, and I have tested it by typing (see photos for a sample).
• The letter "E" key sticks occasionally but still types.
• Black enamel finish has some minor wear, chipping, and scuffs, mainly on edges and corners.
• Gold lettering and emblem are mostly intact with some light fading.
• Glass-topped keys are in good shape, with clear lettering and no major cracks.
• Nickel-plated parts show patina and mild oxidation, adding to its antique character.
• Platen and paper table show signs of age but remain functional.
• Light dust in crevices, but overall well-preserved and display-worthy.
