Description:
The Halifax Disaster occurred on December 6, 1917, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and remains one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history. It was caused by the collision of two ships in Halifax Harbour: the SS Mont-Blanc, a French cargo ship carrying a large quantity of high explosives, and the SS Imo, a Norwegian vessel.
