This is one of the most interesting books I have found at an estate sale, it looks as if someone spent a great amount of time putting this gorgeous piece together. The condition could be better but it is still in pretty good shape. The spine has some damage to the outside. There are a couple of pages loose in the front.
The spine dates the book at 1871-1872, and The clippings seem to be within the same timeline. This scrapbook came from the Jonesboro, Tennessee area.
There are many clippings about having and raising a child, how to be a "proper woman", gardening, religious suggestions, poetry and so much more.
There is even a very personal poem/letter about loosing a gentleman caller to another women. The author expresses her heartbreak with tears that can be seen ruining her words on the paper.
This scrapbook has lots of personal expression and artistic touch, it is truly unique.
