Vintage 800 Sterling Silver Menorah Spoon and Pickle Fork 1950
This spoon and pickle fork are 800 silver (80%) and date from just after the re-founding of Israel, having been made in 1950. On the tops they have a menorah flanked by wreaths. Beneath it is writing in Hebrew, and, on the reverse side, it is stamped 800 for 80% silver. They are 5 long. They also have a maker mark which I do not know.
800 silver is an alloy of silver that is 800 parts silver and 200 parts other metals. It is also referred to as International Coin Silver. This alloy was common in the 19th and early 20th centuries on the European mainland but was not used in jewelry in the United States.
