This is an antique Japanese Kutani ware hand-painted porcelain sake cup from Ishikawa Prefecture. It is inscribed with minuscule calligraphy of Waka poems on both the inside and the outside. Other colors include gorgeous red and gold, which are typical of Kutani. Probably early 20th century, Kutani marks to base. The cup measures 2” H x 1 7/8” D, box is 3” H x 3” W x 3” D. Offered in excellent, unused condition, except the small chip on the rim, as shown at pictures.
This piece was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya, Japan.
