This is a Roy Campanella signed 1992 Front Row card. Campanella only played in the big leagues for 11 years, from 1948-1957. He was paralyzed in a car crash in 1958 and forced to retire. Due to the car crash, Campanella lost the ability to write and therefore, not able to sign autographs anymore.
Over the last 2 years of his life (1992-1993), he was able to write a little bit and was able to sign cards like this one. That’s why the handwriting looks shaky compared to his earlier autos. Campanella’s signature is EXTREMELY RARE since there was only a limited amount of time for him to sign.
I got the card from his daughter, Joni. I reached out to her to have her sign a card that had Roy Campanella on it and she kindly signed it and sent me the card as well.
One of the pictures I’ve included is Joni’s letter to me saying that she included this signed Roy Campanella card.
If you purchase the card, it will ship in a heavy thick plastic case that is about an inch thick to protect it.
