Description
The Postal Service issued a 33-cent Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner commemorative stamp in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 26, 2000. The stamp, designed and illustrated by Frank Espinosa and Ed Wleczyk of Los Angeles, California, went on sale nationwide April 27, 2000.
This is the fourth stamp in the US Postal Service's Looney Tunes Series. Wile E. Coyote has appeared in more than forty cartoons with Road Runner, the speedy object of his appetite. A few other cartoons have pitted Wile E. against the sharp-witted Bugs Bunny.
Wile E. Coyote is a lovable anti-hero. His confidence and ambition never cease in his pursuit of the elusive Road Runner, who, relying on an instinctive gift for survival, effortlessly thwarts all his schemes.
The Banknote Corporation of America, Inc., printed 300 hundred million stamps in the offset/microprint process.
