These rugs are perfect for anyone who wants to own a beautiful, rare piece of history that carries the legacy of the traditional Navajo craftsmanship from shearing 2 sheep (2hrs) to cleaning (10hrs) to carding (40hrs) to spinning (90hrs) to washing (8hrs) to native plant gathering of 5 colors (4hrs) to dyeing (40hrs) to loom construction (16hrs) to warping the loom (18hrs) and to finally weaving (160hrs), for a total of 48.5 days according to Mr. John Rieffer of Wide Ruins Trading Post in August, 1973. The uniquely designed woven rugs with crosses, diamonds, terraces, and swastikas and arrows, embellished in aniline red with a borderless design stemmed from John B. Moore and the local Navajo weevers he employed. The Moore line became a booming business in the early 1900's. Moore left the reservation in 1911, but his basic designs continued to flourish for a number of years in the Two Gray Hills district.
