8 albumen prints from SKETCHES FROM LIFE AND FANCY by German illustrator/cartoonist and caricaturist Albert Hendschel (1834-1883).
This lot is a circa 1878 portfolio containing a total of 8 loose plates of mounted albumen prints reproducing artwork by Hendschel. Published in Frankfort by F.A.C. Prestel/New York by Stroefer & Kirchner, and the mounted albumen photographs by Theodor Huth Phot, in Frankfort, title and credits on each plate.
Each plate is a heavy cardstock with blindstamp and measures, 31.4 x 23.6 cm.
The mounted albumen photo prints are of various sizes:
2 of them are 11.5 x 10.2 cm;
3 of them are 13 x 13 cm;
1 is 14 x 10 cm;
1 is 15 x 13 cm; and
1 is 17 x 13 cm (H x W).
Overall in good condition with wear, discoloration that are consistence with age.
