Handy was one of the first African Americans to make a successful living publishing music. Joining with Harry Pace he created Pace and Handy Sheet Music. By 1917 Handy had published several successful hits including “Beale Street Blues,” and “Saint Louis Blues.” Handy also published the works of other African American composers, including 150 religious and folk tunes, as well as about 60 blues songs.
The product is a block of six 1969 US 6c stamps featuring W.C. Handy, known as the "Father of the Blues." These stamps are mint never hinged, with a fine grade, and have a total face value of $0.24. The colorful stamps showcase a multi-color design and are of United States origin. They are themed around nature and are uncertified, making them a desirable collectible for stamp enthusiasts interested in US postal history and music memorabilia.
