Fern Park (built in 1860’s) was a forested hillside park located near the former “Old Orchard House” that was filled with paths, arbors, rustic retreats decorated by cunning art and embellished with quaint conceits. The trees along the avenues had wooden tablets with verses from English and American poets. The Oratory, the Astronomer’s Seat, The Parson’s Lodge and the monument to Mr. Bull were amount the most interesting objects. The area at the time was widely regarded as having no parallel in the country.

Front of stereoview states the photos are of Old Orchard Park, O.O. Beach, Saco, Me. However, Old Orchard Beach was part of Saco until the 1880’s so it was accurate to list it as part of Saco and helps date this stereoview from late 1860’s- early 1880’s.

3.5” x 7”

Very good condition. There is some minor corner ware and old age toning, writing on back and very light soiling.
