Vintage clear glass label under glass (LUG) apothecary bottle from the late 1800's. The bottle originally contained Aromatic Syrup of Rhubarb, an alcoholic tincture of rhubarb (15%) and potassium carbonate in syrup that was frequently used as a component in laxatives. This is a large salt-mouth style bottle or jar, with a flat-topped ground glass stopper (which is loose). The stopper has a fleabite on the top edge. The black and gold label has some loss of the gold background on the left-hand side and the cover glass is cracked. This is an older mouth-blown bottle with an open pontil mark and a hand-tooled lip, but the maker is unknown. The bottle is 3 1/2 inches in diameter by stands 9 3/4 inches tall. Overall, the bottle is in very good used condition.
