This piece is a bit crusty but it is 100 years old. Made by Thomas Mott this is a reverse painted piece on butterfly wings. The pin is in the shape of a Bow with a c-clasp pin back. This is marked Sterling. Butterfly wing jewelry is such an exquisite collectable. Thomas Mott (TLM) of England, exhibited at the 1924 Great Empire Exhibition and catapulted the art of reverse painting on Butterfly Wing to a new fashionable craze of fun yet elegant jewelry. It was in 1922 that Shipton Co of England applied for the patent (202212 & 202213) for the design of using Butterfly Wings for the production of pictures. This piece is marked. The back has lots of wear but the picture inside the glass is still crisp and beautiful.
