A director is responsible for making the creative and technical decisions that bring a script to life. Often seen as the leader of the crew, the director can see a project from pre-production to post-production, guiding the decisions along the way.
The function of a film director differs vastly from that of a television director. In film, the director largely determines the look and mood of a movie by effecting decisions early in the production process. Television directors, however, are more concerned with the technical aspects such as shot choice and coordinating their production team. The creative decisions fall on a television show’s producer.
