A Moire Pattern is generated when two grid like patterns are overlaid at an angle. This phenomenon is particularly apparent with certain clothing patterns or because of artifacts caused by interlaced footage.

As a result of the moire effect, onscreen talent is usually counseled to avoid wearing tightly striped clothing.
