three-point editing is a video edit performed by setting three edit points for the source media and the sequence being edited. These could be an in and out point for the source media, and either an in or out point in the sequence timeline, OR,
an in and out point in the timeline and either and in or out point for the source media. The non-linear editor will automatically calculate the fourth point to accommodate the length of the edit.
