Debayering is the process in which viewable images can be made from RAW image files. Since the bayer sensor has an alternating pattern of red, green, and blue, RAW images seem to have noise when in fact it is just unprocessed color data. Debayering interpolates this color data throughout the image to smooth out colors in the image. In most cases this is done automatically; though in a more professional environment, users can adjust the debayering settings to their liking.
