Bounce lighting is set lighting produced by reflecting existing light off a diffuse white surface, usually a foam core card. This creates fill lighting to offset a strong keylight, producing gentler shadow detail without the need for another light source.

Bounce cards are often used interactively during shoots to make fine adjustments to the shading of actor’s faces.
