Depth of Field

Overview

Depth-of-field refers to the region of an image that appears in-focus. The wider the aperture of a lens, the narrower the depth of field, thus increasing the portion of the ! image that appears out of focus. While technically depth of field is an artifact of a wide aperture setting, it is used for creative effect to help inform the audience as to where they should be concentrating their attention.
