Bokeh, from the japanese word for blur or haze, refers to the blooming highlights of defocused areas of an image. Often used for creative effect, bokeh flares can occur naturally in live action cinematography,
or be created during post-production processing. The shape of bokeh highlights can be round, or polygonal, depending on the number of blades in a camera’s aperture, and how wide open the aperture is at time of filming.
