ISO

Overview

I.S.O stands for International Standards Organisation, but specifically with respect to cameras refers to a standardized measurement of light sensitivity. Higher ISO settings increase a camera’s sensitivity for light, improving exposure in low-light filming environments. The downside of increased ISO is an increase in image noise, creating a heavy, grainy quality to the footage. This is especially true of lower-end video cameras and cell phones.
