A DIT, or Digital Image Technician, is responsible for digital media workflow on a film set. The responsibilities of a DIT vary from set to set, but typically include transferring and transcoding acquired media during a shoot, maintaining the integrity of metadata, displaying dailies, and creating copies of footage in various formats for distribution to post houses and members of the production team.
A DIT in some cases may also be responsible for working with the DP to establish looks and make adjustments to common camera settings like exposure and frame rate.
