Flags, also known as cutters, are tools gaffers use to block and help shape light on a set. They’re usually made with woven fabric on metal-wired frames to keep them lightweight and come in a variety of sizes from a few square inches to many square feet. Flags come with pegs that easily attach to grip heads and are placed on C stands in front of lights to maintain their position.
